{"id":206,"date":"2022-04-25T14:53:11","date_gmt":"2022-04-25T05:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phoenixprogramlp.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/wp\/?page_id=206\/"},"modified":"2024-10-11T14:33:12","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T05:33:12","slug":"curriculum-outline","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/phoenixprogramlp.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/en\/curriculum\/curriculum-outline\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum Outline"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Specialized interdisciplinary curriculum<\/h2>\n<p>In this program, we provide three courses: \u201cRadiation Disaster Medicine Course\u201d for students with backgrounds in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and medical physics. \u201cRadioactivity Environmental Protection Course\u201d for students with backgrounds in science, engineering, and agriculture; and \u201cRadioactivity Social Recovery Course\u201d for students in humanities, social sciences, and health sciences.<\/p>\n<p>The Radiation Disaster Medicine Course is a four-year doctoral program.<br \/>\nThe Radioactivity Environmental Protection Course and the Radioactivity Social Recovery Course are five-year courses consisting of the Master&#8217;s Program (2 years) and the Doctoral Program (3 years).<br \/>\nIn the two five-year courses, starting with students entering in October 2025, students could leave the program upon completion of their 2 year master&#8217;s program (and the basic course of Phoenix Leader Education Program). And they could aim to enter the doctoral program after gaining work experience in their home country etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRadiation Disaster Recovery Studies &#8221; is the subject which is regarded as the culmination of studies in this program. Students will set up tasks based on knowledge and skills acquired through previous lectures and course work and write a report on the subject (&#8220;Radiation Disaster Recovery Studies&#8221; papers).<\/p>\n<p>Students will be guided through a\u3000field-oriented\u3000teaching\u3000system\u3000based\u3000on\u3000laboratory\u3000rotation,\u3000designed\u3000to\u3000broaden\u3000their\u3000perspective on the subject. Knowledge in \u201cRadiation Disaster Recovery Studies\u201d can be applied in every corner of the World.<\/p>\n<p>Students study aiming to be global leaders with global skills, interdisciplinary skills and management skills and develop a bird&#8217;s-eye perspective by cross-cutting learning. The students choose subjects by their courses but they can also take other subjects from other courses in addition to their own to obtain broader knowledge.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2605Fieldwork\/ Internship<\/h3>\n<p>Fieldwork will be conducted in Fukushima. Students will have the opportunity to meet residents from affected areas, and learn first-hand what are the major concerns of the general public in the aftermath of a nuclear accident. They will discuss with residents and professionals the possible measures for prevention. The examination contains a written test by subject, presentation and oral examination in English, and assessment of the learning portfolio.<\/p>\n<h2>Academic degree<\/h2>\n<h3>Completion Requirement<\/h3>\n<p>a) Students enrolled in the five-year course: In principal, those students who have been registered for at least five years are required to obtain no less than 32 credits, including the program&#8217;s designated credits.<br \/>\nb) Students enrolled in the four-year course: In principal, those students who have been registered for at least four years are required to obtain no less than 30 credits, including the program&#8217;s designated credits.<br \/>\nAs an exception, if the Phoenix Program and his\/her own graduate school recognizes distinguished performance for a student, he\/she can graduate earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Students can receive academic degree in various fields; medicine, dentistry, health science, science, engineering, literature, agriculture, academic, management, pedagogy, psychology.
