\n Phoenix Leader Education Program (Hiroshima Initiative) for Renaissance from Radiation Disaster<\/span><\/p>\n

The 15th<\/sup> Short Field Visit was held successfully.<\/p>\n

The 15th<\/sup> Short Field Visit took place between the 13th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup> of March, 2017. Nine people, including six graduate students and three faculty members participated in an on-site study at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and Chiyoda Technol Cooperation.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n

On the morning of March 13th<\/sup>, they observed the Nuclear Emergency Assistance and Training Center and learned about risk communication and the management structure that JAEA employs. In the afternoon, they visited the \u201cJAEA Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories\u201d to observe an \u201cEngineering Scale Test and a \u201cResearch Facility (ENTRY)\u201d, the \u201cQuantitative Assessment Radionuclide Migration Experimental Facility (QUALITY)\u201d, the \u201cPlutonium Fuel Third Development Section\u201d, and a \u201cChemical Processing Facility (CPF)\u201d.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\u00a0On March 14th<\/sup>, they observed the \u201cJoyo Experimental Fast Reactor\u201d, the \u201cHigh Temperature engineering Test Reactor (HTTR)\u201d, a continuous hydrogen production facility, and the \u201cJapan Materials Testing Reactor (JMTR)\u201d at JAEA Oarai Research & Development Center. After these observation activities there was an academic lecture dealing specifically with \u201cRadiation Exposure after the Fukushima Accident.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0On March 15th<\/sup>, they observed the film badge production process and the site for radiation dose measurement at the Chiyoda Technol Company\u2019s Ohnukidai Office. Following this they also visited Chiyoda Technol\u2019s calibration facility at the. Oarai research laboratory. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
