Special lecture was provided by Dr. Jacques Lochard.

On November 15, 2024, we welcomed Dr. Jacques Lochard from France to give special lectures.

Dr. Lochard is a former vice-chair of the main committee of the ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection), and is currently as a visiting professor at Hiroshima University and Nagasaki University.

In the lectures, he talked about the following three themes related to the “Ethos Program,” which he has been working on to revitalize the community of residents affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, and the “Fukushima Dialogue,” a dialogue meeting after the accident at TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

・Risk communication in the recovery phase after a nuclear accident: the contribution of the co-expertise process
・The Identification, Diagnosis, Prospective, and Action (IDPA) method for facilitating dialogue between stakeholders
・The Fukushima Dialogue: overview and main lessons

Active question-and-answer sessions followed each lecture, providing a very fruitful learning opportunity for the students.
