On Friday, February 17, 2023, the students visited Chiyoda Technol Corporation and Japan Atomic Energy Agency.
In the morning, the students visited Chiyoda Technol Corporation, where they received an overview of the company and its products and services, and observed the glass badge production line used for personal radiation dosimetry, and the glass badge dosimetry line. In the Exhibition Hall for nuclear disaster prevention equipment, the students also visited and learned about tents and equipment for emergency situations in the event of a radiation disaster, as well as radiation contamination monitoring equipment.
In the afternoon, the students visited the Nuclear Emergency Assistance and Training Center of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), where they received a comprehensive overview of the facility and learned about Japan’s nuclear disaster response system and training. They also saw various radiation emergency response vehicles (e.g., a vehicle equipped with a whole body counter for internal exposure monitoring and a vehicle equipped with a shower for decontamination), and learned about the response system and preparations for nuclear disasters.
